It was a lazy day today spent wandering the streets of San Pedro and generally not getting anything done. It was nice.
At this point I feel I must describe the ice cream here to you. It is awesome. The size of the scoops they give out is frankly ridiculous and the flavours are great. Especially the Raspberry. After having samples I'd decided that that is the one I would go for and so asked for two scoops in a cup. The reaction was extraordinary. They couldn't seem to figure out what I was asking of them. I even had Diane explaining it to them. At one point the girl serving me turned to her partner and asked if I was actually allowed to have two of the same scoop. Apparently this just isn't done. Eventually (and very tentatively) she put one scoop in the cup and then looked at me imploringly. After a nod of confirmation she added the second. Truly a groundbreaking moment for Chileans everywhere. I believe I'll be known as "that crazy guy who asked for two of the same scoop that one time", y'know, only in Spanish.
In the evening we had a BBQ in the hotel gardens despite the attempts of the evil overseer (manager who happened to be on duty) to make it nearly impossible with restrictions. There was much appealing to other staff members, grabbing of random gear from bags (I finally got to use my utensils!) and ingenuity used, and we managed to have a good time. There were many "inventions" called in the name of Australia tonight after I had mentioned to Rob that the Scots had invented considerably more worthwhile things than the Australians. I'm pretty certain that a head torch wrapped around a pole doesn't count though...
