9/11/09 - Camping Minus Camping
We awoke to tea and bowls of hot water for washing provided by our porters. This was turning out to be like a camping trip without any of the effort usually associated with it. This was actually somewhat annoying as I like camping but I imagine it suits a lot of people just fine.
Above is a picture of us with the porters, all of whom were smiling except the shortest one in pale blue, Julian, who it seems never smiles. They are all friendly though.
Today was apparently supposed to be the hardest day of hiking of the trip as it was continuously uphill to the highest point of the trail. We were all allowed to move at our own pace and were told that the average time it takes is seven hours. Three and three quarter hours later at 11:45am Rob and I were at the next camp site and at a loss at what to do with ourselves. The porters arrived a little later (these guys are insane going downhill, they basically run) and got the camp set up. A further three hours later everyone else arrived.
Above is a picture of me at the highest point and below is a picture of me at the campsite.
You'll have to excuse the sheer amount of me being shown here but it's nice to show that I was actually there.
