We were given time to wander around Lima in the morning so I had a chance in daylight to take a lot of photographs. There are a lot of very nice buildings in Lima built when the Spanish were here. At 12 noon Jurgen and I went to the main square to watch the changing of the guard outside the presidential palace. Much twirling of rifles was witnessed. Having never seen the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace I'm afraid I have no way to compare the two. This was entertaining none-the-less.

At 2pm we caught a coach to the city Pisco. The reason we left so late and stayed so short a time is that two years ago Pisco was destroyed by a 7.9 earthquake which lasted for three minutes. We made sure to try the Pisco Sour (Peru's national drink) since we were in the place it was created. Pisco Sour is made of pisco, lemon or lime juice, egg whites, syrup and regional bitters.
As the name suggests it is very sour. I liked it a lot.

At the end of the meal Marg demonstrated her Spanish ability by going to ask for the bill. When the waitress turned up with eight beers instead we discovered that this ability was a little unpolished.
